IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 15, 2019 / -- The Big West Conference announced today that it has secured Southern California-based Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® to serve as title sponsor of the 2020 Big West Basketball Tournament.
The 2020 Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® Big West Basketball Tournament will be played March 10-11 at Long Beach State and March 12-14 at Honda Center in Anaheim. The deal was procured in partnership with Learfield IMG College.
“We are pleased to continue our relationship with Pacific Surfliner as the title sponsor of the 45th annual Big West Basketball Tournament,” said Big West Conference Commissioner Dennis Farrell. “This is a partnership that began in 2018 and has continued to evolve.”
As the title sponsor, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner will receive prominent exposure on Big West campuses and at the basketball tournament. Honda Center, the host tournament site for the 10th straight year, is located within walking distance of the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, providing easy access to Pacific Surfliner service. All 14 men’s and women’s tournament contests will be broadcasted over ESPN linear and digital platforms.
“We are excited to partner with the Big West Conference and engage with college sports fans as well as the students and families affiliated with BWC member institutions along our route,” said Al Murray, chairman of the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency, which oversees the Pacific Surfliner service.
Amtrak Pacific Surfliner entered into partnership with the Big West to promote taking the train to top destinations along the Pacific Surfliner route, which serves San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties.
