IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Amtrak® Pacific Surfliner® will offer concertgoers traveling to opening weekend at Irvine's new FivePoint Amphitheatre the opportunity to experience the comfort and convenience of train travel before arriving just steps from Orange County's newest concert venue. Travelers attending concerts on October 5 – 7 will also receive a free companion fare with the purchase of one regular adult fare on all Pacific Surfliner trains to and from the Irvine Station.
The Pacific Surfliner directly serves the FivePoint Amphitheatre, which is located adjacent to the Irvine Station. "The venue's front gate is about a five minute walk from the train station, which will help reduce traffic in and out of the facility," said Matt Prieshoff, Live Nation Chief Operating Officer – California.
When developing the venue, developer FivePoint and events producer Live Nation wanted to give attendees easy access to public transportation.
"People will be able to come to the concerts using the train and enjoy the shows without worrying about parking or safely getting home," said Tony Kranz, chairman of the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency, which oversees the Pacific Surfliner service.
Amtrak will offer special late-night northbound Pacific Surfliner service to Los Angeles and north Orange County after each concert, including Young the Giant (October 5), Fish Family Night (October 6), and Jack's 12th Show (October 7). Concerts end at 11 p.m.
The special northbound return train (597) will depart Irvine promptly at 11:40 p.m. A southbound Pacific Surfliner train (796) will depart Irvine at 11:09 p.m. Concert attendees can take any Pacific Surfliner train to the FivePoint Amphitheatre with service from San Diego, Oceanside, Anaheim, Los Angeles and intermediate stops.
